Electric stairlifts are AC or DC powered chairs that ride on a rail system attached to your existing stairs. The AC powered stairs can be plugged into an existing house wall plug so no extensive rewiring is required. The DC powered chairs are very quiet and don't have a trailing wiring harness going up and down the stairs with them.
